Hydrotrope Mediated Rebamipide Linearity Profile For Pharmaceutical Drug Analysis

Abstract

A study on the hydrotropic solubility and linearity profile of Rebamipide was carried out by using Nicotinamide as the solubilizing agent as Rebamipide is poorly soluble in water. Rebamipide was freely soluble in water when 2M Nicotinamide was used as a solubilizing agent. Rebamipide shows an absorption maximum at 261nm in First derivative mode of measurement using Shimazdu UV Spectrophotometer 1800 spectronic model. At this absorption maximum of 261nm, Rebamipide shows a linear response in the range of 4 microgram to 12 microgram/ml.  The present study is useful for the aqueous solubilization and quantitative determination of Rebamipide in bulk drug and in pharmaceutical formulations thus avoiding toxic solvents
